Program Overview

The Work Placement Program for Black Youth and Emerging Professionals is an initiative supported by the Government of Ontario that aims to provide a pipeline of Black talents to Ontario video game and XR studios via meaningful short-term paid employment and training opportunities. With over 300 resumes collected and more than 45 positions created since its inception, this program offers concrete benefits to both Ontario’s Employers and Career Seekers.

The video game/immersive interactive digital media sector in Ontario is made up of hundreds of motivated companies, employing thousands of immensely talented individuals, and we want you to be one of them!

Register for Resume Database to provide your information and resume. Your profile will be made available to our registered member studios looking to employ diverse talent this coming year.

To be eligible for registration, you must self-identify as Black, be between the ages of 19 – 35 years old and a resident of Ontario.

Please note that we differentiate Black from Person of Colour and only Black participants are eligible.

Are you looking to increase your talent pool? Register to our Resume Database and receive exclusive access to over 300 resumes for a wide range of positions.

This database is a resource to a talent pool of Black Youth interested to work in the IDM sector in Ontario. Registration is accessible to all Interactive Ontario members, regardless of their desire to participate in the Work Placement Program – this database can be useful for your workforce development and search. If you are not an IO member yet, you can become one easily by applying on our website. The $6,000 wage subsidy will be awarded based on the employers’ capacity to find a suitable intern for their studio in the period between July 2025 to March 2026. Selection of employers for this subsidy will be prioritized to Torchbearer & Expand IO members until August 8 2025. In total, 12 positions will be made available for this session.
